This lantern is made from a recycled cookie tin in the style of the pierced lanterns which date back to the 14th century.The originals were made from sheet metal, pierced flat and rolled or folded into shape. With the invention of the tin can in 1810, it soon became possible to have a pretty candle lantern with no more tools needed than a hammer and some various sized nails. This one has been painted then hand punched. The inside of the tin has been lined with a clear heavy plastic. The light source has also been updated with both an LED tea light in a removable frame and a push button puck light inside the lid. Please use LED lights only; no flame. Both lights have replaceable batteries.
